Apostle Peter- Running 1

A blend of Bible stories, revelations and fiction (literature license) about Peter's life and somewhat complex choices and decisions.
Sit back, relax, cappuccino and enjoy!

And Peter was running again, away from the persecution that had once again broken out against the Church.
Jesus had been long gone. He missed Him. He still had nostalgia and goose bumps whenever he remembered just how divine Jesus was. He had seen Jesus do a lot of amazing miracles but none quite like the last one- he and his other folks, some 50 of them watched as Jesus levitated into the heavens until no physical eyes could see him again. He said He was going to heaven and of course that was true- Peter knew now by deep conviction that he'd walked with God Himself. And for some reason he thought himself a friend of God. He knew he was going to see Jesus again sometime soon. There was no debate in his heart about this. He loved Jesus or perhaps God- they were one and the same persons to him now. He often thought that he must be very special for Jesus to have picked him among the very few to have been so close to him and, if Jesus was God then his creator had given him an exclusive and special tag. On top of that, He was now the provisional leader of the movement Jesus began- the Church.
However, he still feared for his life the very moment news got to him that the authorities were coming to search him out. He fled.
This time however Jesus appeared to him when he got into another city...
But Paul... Paul didn't run away, he confronted the persecution. It was either he was sorely persecuted even to the point of death or he actually died and went to be with the Lord(that was how he thought!) Whichever way it was going to happen Paul wasn't one to run away.
Jesus spoke to Peter, "for how long will you keep running away Peter? I am with you even to the end of the age".

Peter knew exactly what Jesus was talking about. For all his life he'd been one who ran away once the heat got really intense.
He remembered his youth and how he, Andrew his brother and another fellow went fishing in the middle of the night with two boats, the storm grew worse and they had to depart the sea. Their friend(the other fisherman) was in the other boat and Peter beckoned to him that it was time to go. Apparently the friend's row had fractured as he was rowing against the wind, trying to get out of sea for safety. Peter didn't know this and was fast losing his patience. "we need to leave now, the storm's getting worse!" he screamed. Andrew was in Peter's boat and could sense something was wrong with their friend. "Let's go help him out!" Andrew screamed against the billowing winds and Peter had to scream back multiple times at Andrew for a repeat of that statement.
When he finally heard what Andrew had said he opted against going back in the direction of the storm. "It's too dangerous!" he blurted back. Andrew argued that they could still make it if they went immediately. Peter just wouldn't take that risk.
Peter and Andrew made it to shore but their friend didn't that night. They waited till daybreak and he still hadn't come. They decided to go back on sea to look for him. They found broken pieces of wood at different locations on the sea but they never found their friend.
He was never found.

Proverbs  16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Most people tell others about their plans first even before they remember to tell God". It's so true, I've found out most times people have opinions, but God never has an opinion, God has direction. People have opinions, God has direction. While speaking with a friend yesterday, she recalled how some people had tried to talk her down/out from doing something, and I felt well, people always have opinions, and like David Ologbonori, a life-coach posited, " Opinions are cheap, they are everywhere, and they can be wrong". While I thought about the fact that sometimes people tell others about their plans before God, I thought to myself "why should a man inform others about what he wants to do even before the waymaker Himself?"😏. This doesn't mean you can't talk to "destiny-helpers", or " dreams investors ", but it has to do with who you give p...

Peace, Soundness of Mind

2 Timothy  1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. " I'm a firm believer that one of the most vital if not the most vital aspect of the human health is the mental health. Its so important to have a mind that's put together. A lot of times, there are challenges that come our way which test our mental capacity and strength, some times they are quite overwhelming, making it seem like we just need to go somewhere solitary to have a "cool off", however the scriptures promises something quite lovely. God says to those who accept Him in their lives, He has given "... a sound mind" , the phrase "sound mind" is translated from the Greek word "Sophronismos", which means " a mental state well balanced with accurate judgement". This is the kind of mind you have in Christ. A mind configured to make accurate and sound judgement, a mind that's in the rest of God. Most i...

PLB Editorial- Confessions 201

Just a few words... James 3:2-3(Amplified translation) For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature. If we set bits in the horses' mouths to make them obey us, we can turn their whole bodies about. We must never disesteem the power of words, we can steer our lives (our entire course of existence) in the direction we choose with our words. The Scripture above claims that if (and it's possible) we can master our tongue (master words), then we are a perfect and fully developed spiritual entity able to determine the circumstances and results of our being. Mehn! Use words rightly on yourself and others and watch your life beam with incredible supernatural radiance. You can proclaim the words below: I live a supernatural life everyday I am in the class of almighty G...
