A blend of Bible stories, revelations and fiction (literature license) about Peter's life and somewhat complex choices and decisions.
Sit back, relax, cappuccino and enjoy!
In a moment of time Peter also remembered the incident with Jesus a couple of years ago. He had denied the master three times only a few days after he'd vowed he'd never leave him or let any harm come to him. He denied ever even seeing him before! Yet Jesus forgave him and had made his life a wondrous one.
The fear of death had led him to make some awful decisions in his life.
The fear of being rejected- as with the gentile Believers in Galatia, when he ate with them freely only to immediately completely separate himself from them as soon as he heard James and some other Jewish brethren approached Galatia. Paul certainly wasn't conservative about his anger on that issue.
Now he was afraid again. Afraid of actually dying. He thought about his wife and kids. What would become of them? Since he met Jesus it's been more ministry than family. Sometimes they were okay with that, other times they wished they had him around more often.
But Jesus once told them that if they left family, wealth and all other of this world's goods for his service they'd gain them all back and even in many more folds.
Sometimes, life can be tragically funny. He was a responsible man but from time to time he used his head a little too much when he could have listened to his heart- oh that heart! There was a new spirit in there now, Jesus' gift- "I wanna walk more with you Lord" he said and deep in his heart he heard a voice, that of a gentleman, sounded just like Jesus'- "I am in and with you till the end of time" said the voice.
Peter stopped running. "Jesus is with me so why run?" He thought, it was time, time to face the chasers and prove his love for the master and even if that meant him dying then death could never have come in a better way than in active and loving service of the Master. He proceeded to face his fears and beat them to the dust! John, his friend and brother in the Lord frequently said "perfect love casts out all fear" and he knew John well. He was the most fond of Jesus amongst the 12 when Jesus was around and even now that Jesus was gone no one knew and talked about divine love as much as John did and at this point Peter was certain that statement couldn't be truer.
He remembered when Jesus asked him if he loved Him. That day was awkward, he had literally abandoned his business, family, and life's dreams to "help" this man and here he was asking such an insensitive question. Peter smiled, now he understood what Jesus was asking. Love has dimensions and levels and Jesus was very much aware of why he was asking such a question. The question was a challenge... but... thoughts flowed through Peter's mind again, "what shall become of the ones Christ asked me to lead, my wife, my kids... what?".
