Distinguishing intentions.

2 Samuel  3:26  And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.

2 Samuel  3:27  And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

One thing we must be sensitive to is the ability to quickly distinguish between genuine care and concern from selfish motives. Many people have lost true friends due to the inability to easily decipher a genuine concern from a fake one. The scriptural text above is quite a fascinating story. Abner, Saul's army general sought to work for David after Saul's demise, however David would give him a condition before allowing him work for him. Now, Joab, one of David's mighty men had "unsettled scores" with Abner, Abner had killed his brother Asahel. So Joab nursed this grudge, and waited for a perfect day to have his vengeance. Now, Abner had come to visit David, and after David was done with him, and discharged him, Joab came in to David and said this  2 Sam 3:25 "Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest." Anyone who heard Joab talk this way would think he genuinely had care for David at that particular time. Shortly after he had said this, he went out and followed Abner, got him and slew him. Then the people said David had begun his vengeance on the house of Saul, now David being an honorable man who had huge respect for Saul and even royalty, put on sackcloth and would not even eat all day, then the people knew David had no hand in Abner's death. It later was found that Joab had killed Abner.

This is quite remarkable, there are still many Joab's out there even today, who seek a medium to exercise the axe of their vendetta. You must be sensitive to such people. Do have a very beautiful weekend ahead.

Proverbs  16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Most people tell others about their plans first even before they remember to tell God". It's so true, I've found out most times people have opinions, but God never has an opinion, God has direction. People have opinions, God has direction. While speaking with a friend yesterday, she recalled how some people had tried to talk her down/out from doing something, and I felt well, people always have opinions, and like David Ologbonori, a life-coach posited, " Opinions are cheap, they are everywhere, and they can be wrong". While I thought about the fact that sometimes people tell others about their plans before God, I thought to myself "why should a man inform others about what he wants to do even before the waymaker Himself?"๐Ÿ˜. This doesn't mean you can't talk to "destiny-helpers", or " dreams investors ", but it has to do with who you give p...

PLB Editorial- Confessions 201

Just a few words... James 3:2-3(Amplified translation) For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature. If we set bits in the horses' mouths to make them obey us, we can turn their whole bodies about. We must never disesteem the power of words, we can steer our lives (our entire course of existence) in the direction we choose with our words. The Scripture above claims that if (and it's possible) we can master our tongue (master words), then we are a perfect and fully developed spiritual entity able to determine the circumstances and results of our being. Mehn! Use words rightly on yourself and others and watch your life beam with incredible supernatural radiance. You can proclaim the words below: I live a supernatural life everyday I am in the class of almighty G...

Taking the Virtual edge

Psalms  133:1 "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" 133:2 "It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;" The beauty of Christianity is in fellowship. Well, due to certain 'developments' around the globe, there's been restrictions on public gatherings, however, this should never put an embargo on fellowshipping with one another as Christians. I've often thought to myself, the internet came at the very right time, the internet is for the advantage of believers. Now, with the internet, we can reach much more people with the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. Some people, otherwise who wouldn't have come to Church physically might most definitely stumble on a Christian event online and then believe in Jesus. I heard of a lady who didn't go to Church because she was of a different religion and being afr...
