David had a flash back of his early music days...
The only thing or person If you may, David loved more than his music was the one who gave him the music- Yahweh. As a result David sang and played more about God and His revelations in his heart than he did anything else, like literally nothing came close... He didn't have affection for too many things- and the Lord was the all in all of his affections. He was often left alone with his father's sheep as his brothers hurried to the parade ground to join in the army processions. He loved the solitude, the gentle breeze and the sunset evenings, music came so naturally to him at such times, he never stressed his mind to compose great music but on such cool evenings it was even easier. He would compose and sing all evening till it was time to feed the sheep and then he would head home eager to share his wonderful new tunes with his parents and siblings, who weren't always as enthused as he hoped...
It was somewhat strange to David however that the king went violent whenever some of the best musicians in the entire Kingdom (who David looked up to and admired) played. The king literally went berserk at the hearing of the sound of the last performer's music such that it took up to four strong men to stop the king from pouncing on this "amazing" musician. They seemed to make his already volatile state get even worse.
David didn't know whether to fidget or not. Those he considered better than him had further displeased the king. It was his turn now and the king was slouched unto his throne with his eyes half-closed, tired from struggling with the four hefty men who had prevented from pouncing as lion on the last performer. David encouraged himself in the Lord.
He played one of his best songs that day, fully concentrated as he hoped for God's grace on his sound. His eyes were shut as he played, he bared all his heart on those strings. Everyone felt something genuinely divine as David played. He was the least qualified, least well-dressed and least famous amongst the musicians but there was a most pure and calming ambience in the room as he played even he didn't want to stop. The King's pat on the back and smile caused him to open his eyes. "You, boy, are a special kid... you'll be my personal musician henceforth" said the king. David stood before the king, utterly stunned...
