The Noble

Who is a noble person?

Through Scripture references and inferences we'll embark on a journey that seeks to define and show us who God deems to be a noble person and why being one is an absolute no brainer, especially in this present noble-starved age.

Pls note- the opinions presented in this article are derivations from the Scriptures and not a carnal fabrication or mere mental or cultural estimation of the author. You can look em up yourself to confirm the assertions and/or suggestions.

The term noble/nobleman appears 40 times in the King James version of the Bible but it was first used in Exodus24:11 to describe certain "elders" who were to work alongside Moses in leading, guiding and directing the people of Israel according to the desires of God. Point to note is they were "leaders" and men of high repute often in the classification of princes and rulers over other people.
So, if you're over anyone in leadership you're actually a noble save that you may not be acting like one yet.

Check out my dictionary app's definition of noble among other definitions- "Having honorable qualities; having moral eminence and freedom from anything petty, mean or dubious in conduct and character."

That's highly impressive for a definition, you can check your dictionary as well, it shouldn't be much of a difference. Also, that's not discriminatory at all because it gives a sense that pretty much anyone (as long as they possess the qualities stated) can be deemed a noble.
Not all princes or "noble" so-called people fit this description either because like in every other thing there happens to be fake nobles as well as original but the picture that the Scriptures give us to emulate possess the qualities that are listed and briefly explained below:

1. Moderation (Ecclesiastes 10:17): This Scripture talks of nobles leading a life of moderation. The context speaks of "food" and "drunkenness" and says a land is blessed when it is ruled by nobles who know when to feast and where to draw the line with regards to enjoyment.
This could equally translate to moderation towards allowances- just cause you have certain powers and allowances doesn't mean you live just anyhow. You gotta know when and where to draw the line.

2. Quality and sublime state: All through the Scriptures nobles are painted in a most sublime and qualitative fashion. They are people of high repute and honourable status known not only for their wealth but positive influence and affluence, representatives of the high ideals and morals of their people.

3. Wisdom (Proverbs 8:16): Without much a-do, wisdom claims that nobles rule well with him and invites us to have him in our lives as the nobles do. That means nobles are required to walk and operate in a high level of wisdom and if you do as well you just my be considered a noble yourself by God! Great godly wisdom=nobility.

4. Knowledge seeking (Acts 17:11): Rather than fronting and being grossly opinionated, argumentative and arrogant, nobles have a different approach to information that they may not totally agree with- they research, study and are open minded. Being open minded does not in any way mean naivety but rather an attitude that shows a willingness to learn and tread unfamiliar routes of knowledge and life through polite questioning, imagination and relativity.

We'll stop there for now but just so you know, every child of God is a noble person (1Peter2:9). We are kings, royalty, regal so let's actually live as true versions, the original of a noble and not the counterfeit or aberration.

With a noble heart and mind,
Pastor Lams😎.

Count the Cost

Luke  14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? I'd never forget a knowledge I got in my Economics class while I was in my Pre-degree programme in 2013. The lecturer asked "what comes first, consumption or production?", without any hesitation, everyone shouted " Production ". The lecturer looking at us unsatisfied with some subtle grin on his face, asked " why?" , a guy raised his hand confidently, got up and said " because we produce before consumption can take place", the lecturer laughed, and we all for a minute looked bemused with certain indistinct chatters here and there, after some minutes, the lecturer called the young man and asked "so what happens when you produce and there's no one to consume it", and for about some few seconds, there was a seeming silence in the hall, you could hear a pin drop. The loud silence was fol...
