Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
10:22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
While meditating yesterday, I thought to myself "value=the desire for impact". You can only change what you want with what you have to the degree of how much you want that change.
The scripture above is the quite popular story of the rich man and Jesus. A man who yearned to follow Jesus and live for impact, He approached Jesus and Jesus told him to go sell all he had and then come follow Him, the man turned back BECAUSE HE HAD GREAT POSSESSIONS and didn't want to LOSE THEM. Did you see that? The value he had for impact could not measure up to the value of he had on his possessions. How true this is still for so many people today. Someone says, when I get so much money, I would help many people. Then they get some money, and they begin to have internal conflicts whether to help or not, or how much to help with. This is exactly the same dilemma this man found himself. When you want to make impact, you must elevate humanity over any financial amount. No amount is too good to impact others with. God's greatest asset are humans. Imagine you are opportune to impact God's greatest asset? The scripture above says "Jesus beholding him loved him," meaning God loved the man and wanted to use him, but his wealth stood in the way of impact. How sad.
