It carries same power!!!

Proverbs  18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Hi, let's talk. Have you ever thought of why people are sometimes more sensitive to evil words than good words? For example, if some people are told "God bless you", or " it is well", there seems to be a casual response like "Yeah, its one of those things again🙄", but if for any reason those same people are told "Things are not fine with you", you definitely would almost see a fight there😀. I remember one service I was in many years ago in a Church, the Pastor said " I tell you, you all are blessed", the members were so casual in their "Amen", then the Pastor went outside the Tent-hall Church and said with the Microphone "according to Malachi 2:3, you are cursed", my goodness, I have never heard such shouts of " I am blessed" from people before😀. The shout almost brought th

Happy Sunday!

1 Thessalonians  5:18 "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." God is good. He does good. There is no iota of wickedness in Him towards man. You know, a lot of people often times ask, "well, if God is good, why does He allow wicked things happen since He is omnipotent?". Some even make up their minds to just say, "God is just God, not necessarily good". Well, the answer to such questions I give to others is that God created the world but He's left it in the affairs of men, nevertheless creating standards for the world to revolve round. " God doesn't endorse wickedness, but the wicked would always meet their waterloo", which means He is good and therefore protects His own. So, a wise man would always give thanks to God for His goodness. God is good, it's not a cliché, it's a fact. He makes "good" the standard for the world. Irrespective of whatever happens, the good alway

Distinguishing intentions.

2 Samuel  3:26  And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.    2 Samuel  3:27  And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.   One thing we must be sensitive to is the ability to quickly distinguish between genuine care and concern from selfish motives. Many people have lost true friends due to the inability to easily decipher a genuine concern from a fake one. The scriptural text above is quite a fascinating story. Abner, Saul's army general sought to work for David after Saul's demise, however David would give him a condition before allowing him work for him. Now, Joab, one of David's mighty men had "unsettled scores" with Abner, Abner had killed his brother Asahel. So Joab nursed this grudge, and waited for a perfect day t

Who said?

Genesis  3:11 "And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?" Most often than not, there are people we usually trust their "verdicts" on anything we do or go through, or those we feel are very good to tell us what thy think about us. Have you  ever dressed up and looked in the mirror and felt good, then you asked someone else, "how do I look?", and the person says, " well, ok" and you expected a much ecstatic response from the person or the person even passed a derogatory remark even after you felt good with what you saw in the mirror. The scripture above typifies a scenario like that, after Adam & Eve ate the fruit God said not to eat, the first question God asked Adam after Adam said he was naked was, "Who told you you were naked?", this wasn't a coincidence, God asked this because He never told Adam He was naked. Friend, God created a perfec

Right Labour

Proverbs  23:4  "Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom." When God created Adam, the first instruction given to Adam from God was to "manage", you could as well say Adam was the first ever Manager on Earth. A Manager adds value to preserve and influence for greater productivity. Man was created to add value through his value. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome says " work on being not on having, for with what you are, you would have", such a profound statement. God didn't create man to work for money, He created man to add value through his value. Adam was to add his value to manage the resources God left in charge of him. Well, you might say "But everyone has a job, and in my job, I clearly work so that I can make money" , well if you ever think you're working for money, that's a very wrong mindset, you don't work for money, you add value for money. No one in practical terms works for money, because if you work for money, it th

Stay content!!!

1 Timothy  6:6 "But godliness with contentment is great gain."  6:7 "For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." Have you ever taken ample time to study THE LIFESTYLE of Jesus Christ?. I believe He is the perfect model and standard of a life worth living. He never placed so much interest in material gains, as a matter of fact, He once said "the life of a man doesn't consist of the abundance of things he possesses". However, we live in a generation where even most people who believe in Him are so carried away with flashy things. Many, even go as far as saying , " He was poor so I could be rich, so Jesus lived a poor life, so I should be rich", of course that's not the real meaning of "He was poor so you should be rich". Jesus wasn't poor, He only became " spiritually poor ON THE CROSS" for the world's sake. But He wasn't financially or materially poor, nevertheles

ENCRYPTED SAFETY

Psalms  91:1 "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." 91:4 "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler." As a believer, one thing you must come to agreement with is truly, God protects His own. Irrespective of whatever you hear others say, you must come into the agreement that God protects His own. You know some people usually would say, "well,if there really is a God, why did He allow that good woman die, why did He allow that good man die", well, God loved Enoch so much that He 'took' him, what about that?, God loved Moses so much that He told Moses it was time for Him to come to Heaven, what about that?. A lot of people have associated death with wickedness from God which should not be so. God's protection isn't deficient by a man's death. In the Psalm above, the Psalmist likens the protection of

Reason for Living

Luke  12:20  "But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?" Did you ever read the whole story of the above verse?. Its such a remarkable one. Jesus talks about a rich man who expanded his assets, yet a sentence of death was passed to him by God, its a remarkable story, you should read it. Question is, why did God pass a sentence of "death" on him?, Is God against prosperity?, No, is God wicked?, of course not, so why did God pass a sentence of death on him?. He passed a sentence of death on him because the man had no justified reason to be alive anymore. Shortly, after the man had expanded His assets, He said "And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry." (Lk12:19). Did you see that? The man wasn't living for any course anymore, He was living just for EATING. Friend, you should know

Living Temples

John  2:19  "Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."  G od is the source of all wisdom. To know God is to know wisdom. Any 'wisdom' outside God is vague. In the old Testament, the people then were allowed to build a Temple to worship God in it because His presence wasn't everywhere, but God in His accurate wisdom, had a better plan coming up. He didn't want to dwell in buildings made by hands, He wanted to dwell in human beings. The verse above sheds more light on this when Jesus tells the pharisees who were all about killing Him, He told them to destroy 'this temple', and in three days, he'd raise it up, this is remarkable, Jesus was referring to His body, He called His body, temple. However the Pharisees hadn't had their wisdom updated, they were clung to the obsolete understanding of 'Temple'. It's important to know that every man is a potential temple for God to dwell, whe

Ever struggled with your faith?

1 Timothy  6:12  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Have you ever struggled with your faith?, or perhaps you're presently struggling with yours. There are times when you're trying to believe for a particular course and then it just feels nothing is changing. You've believed, prayed, confessed, prophesied and even tried walking in the reality of it, and it still seems nothing is changing. Don't lose hope or fret, this process is called "the purification of your faith". Delayed answers aren't to weaken us but strengthen us. Just as gold is purified in fire, so is faith purified in challenges. I always take a cue from the man who was at the pool of Bethesda for 38 years, such a touching story of faith I will be frank. The pool of Bethesda wasn't a place where impotent folks came to beg, it was a place where they came to receive healing. Now,

"Ingratia"- Self restraint

Proverbs  25:28  "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls." One of the greatest test of an excellent personality is "self-control". Self-control is the ability to be in perfect mastery of your emotions and your mind. The scriptures likens a man without self-control to a city that is broken down and without walls. In ancient times and even now, no matter how strong a city was militarily, if the city had no walls, it was vulnerable and very open to attacks, this was why Jericho's strongest defense was her walls. So when the Bible likens a "city without walls" to one who has no self-control it gives a picture of one who is vulnerable and open to attacks.   As a Christian, you must have self-control, do not be angered by everything, do not be infuriated by everything, do not spend time giving a "piece of your mind" to everyone until everyone now has a "piece of your mind" . A man w

Power of Thoughts

2 Corinthians  10:5 "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" "Thoughts are pictures of the mind with constructive or destructive possibilities which have power with the emotions"- Pastor Chris Oyakhilome You know, thoughts are so powerful. A Man's day can be ruined with a thought, even if the thought wasn't true. For instance, if you were a student, and a classmate of yours' came in and said, he just saw a result of yours' which you had an 'F', funny enough, even though if that classmate came to lie to you, that information already creates a thought of a 'carry-over' for you, EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE RESULT. You most likely might have a gloomy day with such NEWS. Friend, the scripture above tells you what to do with such thoughts, every thought that doesn't bring glory to you and God must be bro

The Christ identity!!!

John  13:35 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."  The identity of every Christian is love(agape), the God-kind of love, the love that holds no reason for its nature. The above scriptural context shows Jesus telling us how everyone would know we belong to Him. Its quite amazing that Jesus never mentioned by prayer, preaching, or even praise/worship shall all men know we belong to Him, He says "Love". This is just remarkable, it shows the priority God puts on Love, " agape", the love that holds no reason for its nature. In our everyday living, we must act towards others ingenuously, not necessarily having an attachment to it. No matter the duration or length of tongues you speak, if you don't love others ingenuously, there's no sign you're a Christian, no matter how "strong" your preaching is, love cannot be substituted. Love is acted, its shown. It's demonstrated. I love the pictur

You can't please all men

Matthew  11:16 "But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,"  11:17 "And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented." One vital thing to know about life is, You cannot please everybody. It's such a ' painful ' truth. From the inception of creation, its never been recorded of a man who pleased all men, and most likely would not be recorded of any anytime soon. The scripture above further illustrates this as Jesus talks about the generation He termed as being "unsatisfied", in reading the next verse after verse 17, you'd find Jesus saying John the Baptist fasted, the people complained, He(Jesus) came eating and drinking, the people complained, so he made a figurative by saying " we have piped unto you, ye have not danced, we have mourned unto you, ye have not lamented". People generally

Healthy Communication

Ephesians  4:29 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." Communication is a vital aspect of our everyday life. Everyone communicates daily with his/her sphere of contact. Businesses are carried out based on communication. Issues are resolved with communication. Relationships are built on communication. The dealings of communication with the world on a daily basis are enormous. However, as great as communication is, there can be bad/corrupt communication. The scripture above illustrates the importance of the right kind of communication from the mouth. Any communication that is done with negative words will never have a lasting impact. For example, how do you seal a deal with a client using negative words?. Would that work?, and even if it did, will such client return again?. Corrupt communication definitely have no room in the daily life of a positive & progressiv

Communion of Dominion!!!

1 Corinthians  11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. The secret of the power of Christianity is entrenched in the communion. The communion which symbolizes the blood and body of Jesus is taken often to 'show' the Lord Jesus' death till He comes. Now, this is very remarkable, notice, it doesn't say to 'show' the Lord's death till we go to Heaven. It says till He comes. The life of Jesus on Earth was one of total dominion and authority, He made the will of God known to man which is to live in absolute dominion. However, the life Man had prior to the arrival of Jesus could not

A lesson from Jephthah

Judges  11:30 And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands,  11:31 Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering . You know one of the times we are so pressured to speak is when we are in seeming desperate need of something. Sometimes, it could be when you want to get something from someone and then you promise "heaven on earth" just to get that thing, this is a dangerous place to be. The story in context here is of a noble man who out of desperation for victory made a wrong wrong vow to God.  He said if God would give him victory in war, he would offer unto the LORD the first thing that comes out of his house on his arrival back, O what foolishness! This was nothing short of a desperate man. Desperation has led many to untimely deaths.

The Light of Life!!!

John  8:12  "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." The world is typified as a room that's dark with treasures in it. As you know, if you walk in a dark room you don't know, you're most likely to stumble and fall due to the fact there's no light in there to help you see and locate your way. Life evolves always, and really no man can say to fully understand life except with God's influence and guidance. Jesus is the light of the world, He gives direction to a fulfilling and progressive life in the midst of a clearly uncertain world. Many wrong decisions have been made in life due to lack of proper counsel, but with Jesus, you are sure to always make the right decisions as you journey in expectation of a glorious life.    Ranging from Finances, Marriage, Relationships, Business, you can trust the counsel of Christ to lead you to the right cho

Defined Value

John  3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." One of the first things God helps you do after receiving salvation is to build your value system. Truth is, if you don't see value in yourself, you won't see value in others. Your value system shows your response and relationship with people. The scripture above shows God's value system on every man. God gave His only begotten Son for every man, meaning that the life of every Man is worth the life of His begotten Son. Come to think of it, have you ever thought about the fact that every Man's life is worth the same as the life of Jesus?. You definitely won't go to a Grocery store to pay much more for something that's not worth so much, meaning if you were going to part with $5 for an item, its because the item is worth that much. Also, if God was going to "part" with Jesus to save every m

Priority information

Proverbs  16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Most people tell others about their plans first even before they remember to tell God". It's so true, I've found out most times people have opinions, but God never has an opinion, God has direction. People have opinions, God has direction. While speaking with a friend yesterday, she recalled how some people had tried to talk her down/out from doing something, and I felt well, people always have opinions, and like David Ologbonori, a life-coach posited, " Opinions are cheap, they are everywhere, and they can be wrong". While I thought about the fact that sometimes people tell others about their plans before God, I thought to myself "why should a man inform others about what he wants to do even before the waymaker Himself?"😏. This doesn't mean you can't talk to "destiny-helpers", or " dreams investors ", but it has to do with who you give p

Shinning and Productive

Proverbs  4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. As a Christian, you must recognize the path that's been carved for you. As you journey in the affairs or your life, you must come into the consciousness that your path is one that's lit up. Your path shines. However, the presence of light is not the necessary absence of challenges. Do not confuse challenges for problems. Jesus had challenges while on earth, Paul had same, David had same, Elijah had same, etc Nevertheless, these are people who had beautiful lives as they journeyed the face of the Earth. Challenges are a stepping stone to victories and testimonies. Did you ever play a computer game that required you to scale through numerous obstacles to get to the next level, you understand that joy you experience when you get into a new level😁.     As you journey into your week, let your challenges be a springboard into an avalanche of glorious testimonies for you,

Understand the ground.

Galatians  6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. I firmly believe in the seed-principle of life. Life is a ground we sow seeds, and any ground not producing the required/desired results from sowing should be changed. Jesus illustrated many of His teachings with the seed principle. Life is a ground where we sow seeds, and we must be sensitive enough to know the different grounds we are sowing on. I believe no one is ever short of seeds, however, there often times can be a wrong positioning of the sower. For instance, you can't be in a relationship you really aren't getting anything profitable from, life is about give and receive, the moment you find yourself in any relationship where you seem to be giving without receiving anything, then that's a wrong ground for sowing, your time is a seed, your emotions are a seed, your thoughts are seeds, whatever you give to make things work is a seed and when you sow, you definite

The Prince of Peace.

John  14:27  "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." If you're a good student of the WORD as you ought to be(2Tim2:15), you'd know what the above text scripture really means. The scripture above shows there really are two kinds of peace, the peace the world gives, and the peace Jesus gives. Many at times, people have often inferred peace to be the absence of trouble, well, but not entirely so, peace isn't really the absence of trouble, peace is the presence of Jesus, He is the Prince of Peace. There is such a peace a man can enjoy that the world gives, the man wouldn't be troubled, yet He won't be fulfilled, only Jesus gives the kind of peace, that brings fulfillment. HE said to us(His disciples), He leaves His peace with us. I'd like to give a little exposé on the Peace Jesus really gives. The story in (Mark 4:39) shows Jesus in the boat w

Live it!!!

Joshua  1:8 "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." Developing a lifestyle that's consistent with the contents of your dreams is the first step to achieving them, what you don't live, you don't be. The above scripture text was God's charge to the Israelites when He brought them out of Egypt, however rather than God just telling the Israelites to keep the book of the law in their mouths, He actually was impressing a lifestyle upon them, He was introducing them into a lifestyle of living what you desire, living what you want. He said to them in the latter part of that verse "...that you may observe to DO ALL that's written in it". The truth is this, no matter how valid your dreams are, a life that deviates from living in the pat

The God-Psychology

Romans  12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Back in Secondary School, I once overheard my then C.R.S(Christian Religious Studies) teacher tell another teacher with disgust Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was preaching "Psychology",  that statement stuck in my mind over the Years, it even made me curious to know who Pastor Chris was then,I didn't know so much about God, but many years down the line I look back and wonder how many people have wrongly understood God's word. The scriptures though spiritual are also psychological. The above scriptural context alludes to this, a man who doesn't have his psychology changed after being born again might not experience the blessings that come with the package of salvation, "the Bible says as a Man thinks so is he", the word of God has its own Psychology, its mental structure

Collective mindedness

Luke  16:12  "And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?" One of the hallmark's of honesty & transparency is duplication. A man who's dishonest with another man's business will never get to the position where he'd have his. This is more of a system than its a 'curse'. For example, one of the attributes of a devoted worker in a company is 'time management', a  diligent worker manages his time judiciously to meet up with targets given, now, a worker who never manages his time well to meet up target deadlines would never have executed it even if the company was his. As a worker, or vision-sharer in an establishment, you must work and execute jobs as though the success and failure of that establishment depends on you. You must carry the "we" mentality and not "I", the moment you fizzle into being a weak link in that establishment, you set up yourself for

The edge.

Daniel  11:32  "And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits." We live in a competitive world. Every man seeks to be the best in his field, which is definitely not wrong, everyone strives for the mastery of exceptionalism, which is definitely very laudable, but yet not everyone seems to get fulfilled in this race of 'exceptionalism'. Well, the scriptures offers a grand solution to this, it says , "those who know(aware of) their God shall be strong and do exploits". As a child of God, one thing you should be well aware of is that you play by a different set of rules. Unlike the natural man, you function by Grace, yes, you definitely should work hard, but you should also be very conscious and aware of Grace. When you become aware of this Grace, it says, you shall be strong and DO exploits. I love that! As a person, I've always been conscious of Grace in

Abundance,never an avenue for wastage!

John 6:12(NIV) " When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." " When you study the scriptures carefully, you'd notice God has a strong opposition to waste, nevertheless He is a God of abundance, yet He still doesn't tolerate waste. The scripture above is the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes, after He had fed the people with the bread and fish, the Bible records there were still 12 baskets left, now naturally anybody who just witnessed such miracle could just have apathy towards the left over, but Jesus immediately tells the disciples to pack the left over, God would not allow any waste, this was an immediate caution from God to them to never tolerate any space for waste. The disciples must have thought to themselves, "we've eaten to our full, what do we need these fragments for again?" But God wasn't going to give room for wa

No Rent-free

Genesis  40:16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:   40:17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head. We live in a very social world, however there's a clear boundary between socialization and societal pressure. Most people allow themselves victims of societal pressure. Others opinions about them or about something they want shapes their decisions which ought not to be. Taking a cue from the story above, quite popular, the baker who had a dream while in prison with Joseph and tells Joseph about the dream who interprets it for him. This dream is quite figurative, every time I think on this Scripture, the Bible says birds came to eat out of the baskets on the baker's head, what were the birds doing there?, reminds me of a particular saying "if you can't stop b

I do!

Isaiah  43:19  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.  The scripture above has always been used to preach about God doing something new in our lives and turning situations around, how so very true this is. God really is a doer of new things, He doesn't consult the old to determine the new. However, did you know that in the eyes of scriptures, we are equated to think and function like God, a bigger part of this verse that's not always been thought of is the fact that God also wants us to "do a new thing",how? We are to recognize His ability and open our hearts and minds to new feats. If God will do a new thing for us, then it means we are the recipients of that/those new thing(s), meaning God anoints us to do new things, that's the bigger picture brother. The bigger truth is that we are the ones to do new things, He anoints us to do new things. So don'
